How long have you been a wedding coordinator?

Lucky In Love's portfolio includes eighteen weddings since starting the business in spring 2006. Each celebration has been a great adventure of learning and lots of hard work!

Do you employ other people to help you plan events?

Lucky In Love will hire contract workers as necessary for labour duties. As the wedding consultant, I will personally organize, plan and manage your wedding. 

Is there an extra charge for additional staff?

Yes. I will do my best to keep the cost of contract workers within your budget. I will hire one person to assist with decorating and tear down if required. There is an additional fee should you choose to utilize chair slip covers as part of your décor.

Do you personally attend every wedding?

If you have hired me for Wedding Day Coordination I will most definitely be there!

What if you become ill or cannot come to the wedding? Who will stand in for you?

I hope this never happens! I wouldn't want to miss a thing! However, if I am unable to be there, do not lose sleep. Lucky In Love has a fully trained back-up assistant. She will be sure to follow through with each and every wedding detail and make sure your special day is a fabulous success!

Do you charge for an initial meeting?

No, our first consultation is complimentary. We will meet to uncover some of your wedding wishes and decide if hiring a consultant is the right choice for you and your partner.

Who signs the vendor contracts? Do we pay you the fee for the entire event and then you pay each vendor or do we contract with vendors separately?

The wedding couple will sign the vendor contracts and will provide the deposits as required. My fee and any other payments or purchases required will be paid for individually by the wedding couple. I can handle all correspondence with the vendors, or you may choose to be more involved. You will be invoiced by Lucky In Love every 2-3 months for my work performed to date, or in equal payments. As your wedding consultant, I will deliver your final payments to the vendors for you.

How many hours does it take you to plan a wedding?

It varies considerably depending on the budget and details. I have spent over 200 hours on my largest budget and as little as 35 hours on my smaller budgets.

Do you make initial contact with all referred vendors and check price and availability or do you give us a list of vendors for us to call?

If agreed upon in our contract, I will contact all the vendors and find you the right price for your budget at the venue/vendor that suits you best. Alternatively, I can provide you with a Preferred Vendor Package should you wish to contact them on your own.

How many hours are you on site the day of the wedding?

Usually 5-7 hours and dependant on the wedding couple's wishes. I like to stay until after dinner and special events to deal with any unexpected circumstances.

Do you help with setup and tear down?

You bet! I may need to hire a contract worker for this.

Describe the best wedding you’ve ever managed. Why was it the best wedding?

I'd have to say, it is my own wedding in October 2005. My wedding was a dream come true. I planned it mostly on my own with some help and great ideas from some fabulous people, including my husband. It went off without a hitch. Our vows were intimate, concise and very meaningful. The music was upbeat, yet warm, and our guests were those very close to our hearts.

My aspiration was for a very personal feeling to surround everyone, while we all had fabulous time. It was important to me that there was no "down" time between ceremony and reception or dinner and speeches. The reception was classy and elegant with the perfect lighting. Candlelight and white-light trees adorned the hall. Our cake was actually two birthday cakes celebrating two of our brother's birthdays, each within a day of our celebration. All 200 guests rattled off the birthday song. The ladies room had its own emergency kit, and the men's room had funny character spectacles which kids and adults tried out for a good laugh.

I was adamant about hiring a live band; the local 50 & 60’s band "Kenny and the Cruisers" were marvelous! Everyone ate and danced and laughed and enjoyed themselves until the late evening. It was the best night of our life (so far)! My husband and I still talk about how absolutely fabulous it all was and I still receive compliments on my hard work. My wedding is what has brought me to launch Lucky In Love Wedding Design. Going through the process with my own wedding has given me a unique understanding of the issues faced by the bride and groom. And now I am ready to help make your dream wedding a reality!

UPDATE: We now have a young son, born on Christmas Day 2006! So that was the BEST day of my life! There are just so many BEST DAYS! We added an amazing baby girl to the family on August 15, 2008; NOW we are complete!

What is your fee schedule?

Lucky In Love will charge 15% of the budget for the "Only You" package. The other three packages: "Head Over Heels", "Love at First Sight" and "Forever and Ever" charge a flat rate based on your individual needs. These packages can overlap to create the perfect fit for your budget. There is a non-refundable retainer fee at the time of signing our contract, followed by invoices every 2-3 months for work performed to date, or in equal payments. Final payment for my services, including an amount for the wedding day, is due on the wedding day.
